I followed your advice but I had Joe tell the girls about the lingerie shower. I knew they would be more honest with him than with me. Needless to say the invitation was declined which I totally understand. If I were in their position, I would have declined as well. As for me, I'm relieved, it would be too weird. I would not be able to relax and enjoy the company of friends as I will be now.
I tried to figure out when I could take them to lunch but their working calendars and my are completly different so I can't find a time that is good us to have lunch before the wedding so they will just learn me as I learn them as we go along. Maybe we can do something later.
Number 1 son-in-law is home from the hospital. He is taking some mighty fine pain meds that have him loopy but he is funny loopy.
The tussie-mussie that my boss brought is the tinest little thing I've ever seen to how flowers. I took it to three florist who looked at me like I had lost my every loving mind. I think I'm be doing my own bouquet. I'm not spending $50 or more on live flowers for one bouquet when I need two. You will be hearing more about this I am sure.
I need more advice. Alabama & Auburn play the Iron Bowl the Friday after Thanksgiving. Since we aren't going on a real honeymoon until later in the year, we are going to invite the family to his house (big HD TV) for the game. Any suggestions in regard to food? There will be 15 people invited and probably 10 will show. I think the game is in the afternoon. I guess I need look that up.
We are going to a friends house this afternoon to see her receptions/wedding decorations. I'm so excited, I know they will be wonderful because she is so excited about them.
Y'all have a great weekend.

Have a veggie tray, a fruit tray, and two kinds of pizza (big pizzas)
and a lot of Little Debbie cakes or better still go by Walmart or Winn Dixie and buy Auburn and Alabama cupcakes....that might not be a good idea...they might wind up throwing them at each other!!
Love you,
Bethy
I don't know anything about football, except for having a Superbowl party at our house every year. But here's a good website I've used to help me get some good ideas on what to serve:

With everything you've got going on in your life, be sure to keep it simple. :-)
For an *important* football party (as opposed to just ordinary game day), I'd do a fruit/veggie tray, a "build-your-own-sandwich" deli tray, maybe a soup or chili, and cupcakes/cookies for dessert.
Also, I believe it is an Alabama state law that chip and dip must be served at all home-based sporting events. Or maybe that's just TN. :)
Ditto on the veggie and fruit. Cookies tooo. Lots of finger foods!
Chili and/or potato are always winners at our house. I usually fix rotel cheese dip with it. Chips, dip, veggie tray, have fritos and crackers for the chili. Cornbread for the tater soup. Then we usually make homemade smores (they are made from golden grahams cereal into bars). Just a suggestion!
I read this in comments but I forgot to comment.
I'm proud of you for asking them. You put the decision in their hands and they can't say that they were left out. It was an act of 'reaching out'.
Game food...
Do you have a baking stone? The pampered chef has a great recipe called a Taco Ring made with crescent rolls, ground beef with taco seasoning, and cheese. It can look very pretty with lettuce and tomato in the center.
Chili is always good for gameday but y'all might wind up knowing more about each other than you want.
I love Tiz's idea about the cupcakes. I say make it festive with decorations even! Like a party! Set a happy tone for the day.
Regardless JC, I know you will make be a wonderful hostess and the more his family gets to know you the better they will love you.
I MEANT I read this in Google reader. ACK!
Make it easy on you...... they will be watching the game.. Think about Wal-Mart deli trays and then add some chips and dip.... Some sweets but not to much...... That is what I would do......
