WHEN THE RING GETS TOO TIGHT

I really couldn't come up with a suitable title. This post is really about 'this & that'. In my last post, I indicated that something was going to have to change in regard to my eating. I posted that I had returned to Curves and all is good in that department. Joe is supportive of my need to go there at least three days a week.

Friday Joe & I went to the Garden (Joe's home & my weekend get-a-way). Sometime in the evening, after we had eaten, Joe informed me that his wedding band was too tight. He said he could not get it off without soaping up his hand. I gave him a "so what are you going to do about it" look. We went to bed discussing his need to lose weight. We decided to weigh and start a diet on Saturday. Saturday, Joe weighs. Oh my goodness, you would have thought it was end times. He has gained 14-15 lbs since our November 21st wedding. I weighed, OMG, I have gained 4 lbs since Jan. 1st. So it is back to the healthy foods and less eating out for us. Joe is on board with walking with me on the days I don't go to Curves.

By the way for 64 years old, Joe is very fit. We went walking in our subdivision yesterday afternoon. At the end of the road, we live on is a steep hill that leads to some very high dollar homes. There is a gate that closes at night but it was open and it was just to much temptation for Joe. I made it half way up the steep incline but Joe was able to run from midway to the top of the hill. Before I came into his life, Joe was walking 6 miles a day. Needless to say he is on board and his weight will be off within a month because that is the way it is with men.

When Joe makes up his mind about something, it is made, and nothing will change it. Me on the other hand still wants ice cream and candy. Why did he make this decision right before Valentine's day? Please do take note that he didn't make this decision before the Christmas Peanut M & M's were gone as was the Butter Pecan Ice Cream. HA!! Joe has a major liking for sweets. Which brings me to my next story.

Last Friday I noticed the next door neighbor's dog was off his lease and roaming the yard (his not ours). Well on up in the day, Joe calls me at work and told me another neighbor had knocked on our door telling him the neighbor's dog was in the street and she feared for the dog's safety. Joe being the kind soul that he is, got out in the rain and cold and put the dog back in the neighbor's back yard and secured him as best as he could. I called said neighbor and left them a message telling them what Joe had done and why. Well let's fast forward to yesterday after our walk.

There is a knock at our front door. It is our neighbor with a bag and envelope in his hand. He came bearing a gift and a thank you card for taking care of their dog. Y'all want to know what the gift was??? I know you do!! It was a coffee cake!!! Now, I'm not a fan of coffee cake so no big deal to me. Joe on the other hand told me to get rid of that thing. I laughed so hard I cried and thought about the scripture about a merry heart does good like a medicine. I think it is in Proverbs somewhere, if you want to look it up. He looked at the nutritional info and informed me that 1/4 of the cake was only 240 calories. I looked at the back of the box and informed him that 1/14 of the cake was 240 calories. The cake in now in the freezer until we need a dessert for some church or family function.

So I weighed this morning and I'm down 2 lbs. however, official weigh-in is Saturday morning at the other house (consistency of scales; according to Joe). I just thought y'all would appreciate that my husband is now on board with healthy eating and exercise. Praise the Lord!!!

You are so blessed that being healthy is something that means a lot to both of you... something that you can do together!

I pray that it all goes well!

That will make a big difference that you are doing it together. Wish my husband would try a little harder...however...I don't want him to tell me NO if I say I want Oregon Blackberry Custard (which I did tonight). It is sometimes a touchy thing. He knows when to back off. I have a wedding reception (my daughters) in two weeks. Please let my waist line shrink before then. HA...as you my dear friend would say.
