HAPPY RESURRECTION DAY

I'm so excited about this weekend. I love Easter and the meaning of the holiday. Of course, I love spring time in general when all the trees start coming alive after the winter. I can really do without the commercial aspects of Easter (bunny, eggs, peeps, etc) but for little ones nothing beats a good Easter Egg hunt except for a chocolate bunny and a few marshmallow peeps. Yes, the yellow Peeps are the best. But, for me as a Christian, Easter is so much more.

This will be the first Easter in 21 years that I will be attending services at my own church. Usually I am on the road to visit family during church time. We are meeting at my sister's house on Saturday for lunch, then my new family will do lunch after church on Sunday. I find myself conflicted between wanting to be with my siblings for holidays and wanting to be with my new family. I'm excited that it seems to be working out this year. I'm so grateful to have a sister that tries to accommodate her extended family by changing her date and including my new family in her gathering. My new family that can go tomorrow seem to be excited about going to her house and meeting their new relatives that were not at the wedding. I realize I'm rambling about a subject that may be of no interest to you but I just can't contain my joy so I have to share. This will be Great-Grandboy's first Easter and he is toddling so it should be a lot of fun.

Most importantly it is a time for Christians to celebrate the resurrection of Christ and to be humbled and grateful for His sacrifice and His obedience to His/our Father. Most everyone knows John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

I love the second part of John 10:10 where Jesus says, "I am come that they might have life and have it in abundance." I have that verse printed on my checks as a reminder that I have an abundant life because over 2000 years ago, Christ came, died and returned to the Father to give abundant life to me. Glory, Hallelujah!!!! He is risen!!! But by the power of the Holy Spirit dwells in the lives of all who believe in Him.

My sincere prayer is that you know and believe in Him. Being part of the Body of Christ is a wonderful adventure. Have a great, happy and blessed Resurrection Day weekend.
